arboretum (+ extras)

I have new and old pictures to post. This is Zev playing at the zoo about a month ago. He loves to stick out his tongue...

Zev got a new tricycle with a handle for me to push him for his birthday. We had already bought it a few weeks ago (when it was on sale and we had a coupon of course), so I decided I didn't want to wait to try it out anymore. Zev doesn't actually know it is a birthday gift after all...

I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but he loved it. It is a bumpier ride than the stroller, but he doesn't seem to mind.

Today, we went to the arboretum. Zev got broccoli on himself and changed in the middle of our time there, so please ignore the outfit changes.

He had lots of fun, and he LOVES to eat grass. I guess that is good since he doesn't really like all the other green veggies. Zev had fun with his friend Lucy, but she is a really fast walker so he can't quite keep up with her yet. I forgot my good camera, so I only have iphone pictures, but I think I did well considering. We are going back again next week, and I will hopefully remember the good camera. It never fails that I forget at least one important item every trip though, so who knows?

news!

Zev is saying mama! I love it. It's only been about a day, and I am so happy! That is all.

Superman

For those who aren't sure when Ari and Zev look alike, I post you this...

The closed eyes, the Superman t-shirt... a mini Ari indeed.

Here are two with open eyes and a smiley face. I know I am a little biased, but Zev just keeps getting more and more handsome with his big eyes, curls, and that belly.

11 months

Happy 11 months Zev!

Today was a yucky day, so we decided to make an outing to the Science Museum. Zev had lots of fun, and he will have even more fun when he can walk around on his own.

Zev loves things that spin...

he also likes to splash...

kissing the duck

off to explore space

looking at him in the fun house mirrors was more fun for us than him.

building

putting out fires with his drool

He had the most fun just playing though.

I can't believe he is almost one! He has been crawling everywhere like a pro. He pulls up and he will even cruise a little along the couch if he is motivated enough to get to what is on the other end. He can be a little picky, but he is a great eater. He is babbling all the time, and I swear he is saying dog. So word one: dada, word two: dog. Still no ma ma. Maybe he'll get it this month!

Da Da!!!

Here I have a very precious video of Mr. Zev trying to get his dad. Ari had just gone in the backyard, and Zev wanted to get him BACK. It is pretty cute. For those of you feeling for sorry for him, I did take him out into the back to find dad after I turned off the camera...

It is time for him to learn to say "ma ma" already...

Beat it beets!

Zev has now decided that there are food he just is NOT going to eat. He used to eat beets, but he has rejected them the last three times he was served them. He will eat beans one day and spit them out the next. He won't eat carrots unless they are slightly mushed and covered with cinnamon. We are working on the veggies, but fruit, cheese, and meat are never rejected. Here are two pictures of the latest refusal of beets. They are all over his entire face and arms from shoving away the spoon... He did eat the carrot broccoli that was served at the same time, so there are a few specks of that too.

Please excuse the "end of day hair".

Grey Allen Richardson

Yesterday at 1:30 in the morning, I got a call from Emily's mother to tell me Emily was having a baby! I got up and got ready, then they picked me up at 2:30. We drove to Houston in plenty of time to meet the one and only...

Grey Allen Richardson

I got to see Em just a little while before it was time for her to push. I was sent to the back as a spy to see if they were done pushing yet, and the first time I didn't hear anything, but the second time I heard the first cries of a new little baby. I was there just when he was being born (right outside the door) just by luck. I think it was fate. I ran back to tell everyone there was a baby, but then we had to wait almost an hour for him! We were getting stressed, but it was worth it because he is precious.

Here we are waiting in the hall!

My first time holding him...

Grey and his dad

a new little family

I could not be happier for Matt and Emily. Matt said that Emily did amazing, and Grey has been given the seal of approval by his pediatrician already. While I was there yesterday I was told he already pooped on his father twice and then peed on him all during his first diaper change. He is a loud guy with a lot to say, and I can't wait to get to know him better. I know Emily and Matt will be fantastic parents. I have always known that Emily will be the best mom I know.

I am really thankful for my mom for watching Mr. Zev all day so I could go. He loved playing in her office trying to mess with the computer and crawl under the desk. He was worn out from a day of fun with his Mimi.

On Friday, Zev went to a music class in the library at the mall. He had lots of fun. Here he is playing at the beginning before class starts... He really liked the songs and watching all the other babies.

Zev is just playing a lot more in general. He has three new favorite activities. The first is taking apart towers I build. Here is a little video. He usually takes every block apart, but in this one he kind of gives up at the end. He has more important things to do...

The second thing he loves to do is stand and look out the window. He bangs on it, he tries to eat it, and as you can see in the second video, sometimes he bangs his head on it too...

Last, but definitely not least, Zev's third favorite new activity is eating my hair. He will wait until he can grab just one strand off my head or find one on the ground. Then he will slowly tuck it into his mouth a little bit at a time. He makes this crazy face when he does it, and Ari and I think he might be a little quirky...
